We compared students’ observed RIT growth to the typical RIT growth that would be expected of them based on NWEA MAP growth norms. The data shows that the more lessons that students completed, the more their observed RIT growth exceeded their expected RIT growth. Specifically, although still substantial, the excess of observed over expected RIT growth was small for students who completed between 5-19 lessons (Glass’s delta = .32) and 20-39 lessons (Glass’s delta = .36). In contrast, the excess of observed over expected RIT growth was moderate for students who completed between 40-59 lessons (Glass’s delta = .50) or 60+ lessons (Glass’s delta = .67).
