“This is our last time together for this course. I hope you’ve enjoyed it. I hope you’ve learned a lot. I hope you’ve validated some of your thinking. And I hope you have built a habit that has really been beneficial for your students.” –Dr. Doug Fisher
Congratulations on completing all sessions! On Day 30, Dr. Fisher encourages teachers to reflect on the close reading instructional practices they developed over this series as they guided students through the close reading process to a deeper understanding of complex text.
Please fill out this survey to tell us about yourself, demonstrate your new learning, and share feedback on your experience with 30 Days to Improving Instruction.
After completing the survey, you will have an opportunity to print your certificate of achievement for participating in the Close Reading Series.

Review the reflections in your Learning Log for all sessions. Then, focus on these final reflection questions:
Ask your students to reflect on their learning during the close reading process. Have them focus on what worked well and an area where they need more support.
Think about your next steps. As Dr. Fisher says, “There’s always something we can do better to have more of our students achieve.”
Use this rubric designed by Dr. Fisher to assess the qualitative factors of text complexity to ensure a reader-text match and to inform areas of text that need instruction.
This template can be used across multiple sessions to help guide the development of literal, structural, and inferential questions, and progression into inspirational tasks.
This log can be used to capture new learnings as you develop close reading techniques.
